Making a simple, natural eyebrow gel is incredibly easy! Plus, it’s a great way to get great brows that are both healthy and look amazing. This recipe is going to be one that you quickly add to your brow routine.
Natural Ingredients
Aloe Vera Gel
Aloe vera gel is soothing, refreshing, and perfect for creating fluffier brows that stay in place. It also helped tame down bushy, wild eyebrows that have a mind of their own. Make sure to look for an aloe vera gel that contains simple ingredients and is free of dyes and harsh chemicals.
Castor Oil
Castor oil is a gentle carrier oil that helps to nourish your eyebrows. It’s naturally occurring fatty acids and vitamin E both moisturize and support hair growth for thick brows. Castor oil is a natural way to help maintain thick eyebrows or help enhance thin brows over time.

Essential Oils
Essential oils are a great addition to this homemade eyebrow gel. This is where you get to customize the recipe to your hair for exactly what you want. Certain essential oils are better for hair health including the following: cedarwood, lavender, rosemary, roman chamomile, and ylang-ylang. Personally, I like using lavender and rosemary in my recipe for overall hair health and hair growth!
Natural Tint Powder
Cocoa Powder, Beet Powder, Brow Powder, Eyeshadow Powder, or Activated Charcoal Powder (For the Tinted Version Only): Depending on the color of your eyebrow hairs, you can add a small amount of these powders to create a naturally tinted brow gel.

DIY Eyebrow Gel Recipes – Clear and Tinted
Clear Eyebrow Gel
- Measure out the aloe vera gel and pour it into a small mixing bowl or use a measuring cup. For the aloe vera to be more pourable, warm it up in the microwave for 10-20 seconds on the defrost setting. Stir to make sure all of the gel is more liquid. If not, then microwave again for a short amount of time since you don’t want it hot.
- Add 10 drops of castor oil and 6 drops of essential oils to the warmed-up aloe vera gel. I like using 3 drops of lavender oil and 3 drops of rosemary oil, but more essential oils are listed above that you can use. Stir to combine.
- Pour the clear brow gel into the mascara tube using a funnel. You will want to leave some room at the top of the tube for the mascara wand. Put in mascara wand and tighten. It’s all set for you to use!

Tinted Eyebrow Gel

- Add 10 drops of castor oil and 6 drops of essential oils to the warmed-up aloe vera gel. I like using 3 drops of lavender and 3 drops of rosemary, but more essential oils are listed above that you can use. Stir to combine.
- Add 1/8 tsp of natural tint powder and stir again. See below for suggested combinations for eyebrow coloring.
- Pour the tinted brow gel into the mascara tube using a funnel. You will want to leave some room at the top of the tube for the mascara wand. Put in mascara wand and tighten. It’s all set for you to use!

Natural Color Options
Here is a general guide for making a natural tinted eyebrow gel using powders. Of course, you can also use brow powder or eyeshadow powder that is already mixed for the shade that you need.
Blonde – use cocoa powder, double the amount for a dark blonde
Red – mix cocoa powder and beet powder
Brunette – mix cocoa powder and activated charcoal powder
Black – activated charcoal powder
The ratios may vary based on the color of your brows. This is something where you may need to test how much you use and may require some trial and error before finding the right match. I would suggest mixing the color first and then mixing it with a small amount of aloe vera before making the full recipe.
How to Use DIY Brow Gel
Using your DIY brow gel is simple and easy. First, you will want to remove any excess product from the mascara wand by brushing it on the top of the tube. Then use the brush in an upward motion over your eyebrows. This helps the eyebrow gel get applied evenly throughout your eyebrows. Depending on your eyebrows, you can use the mascara wand or brow brush to brush them up slightly for a very natural look or over to the side if you have bushy brows that need some taming. Let the natural eyebrow gel sit on your eyebrows for 3-5 minutes to firm up before touching them or applying any additional makeup to the area.

This homemade eyebrow gel can be stored at room temperature in your makeup bag. While this recipe doesn’t contain any preservatives, it should last between 3-4 months. Of course, you might have used it all by then anyway since that’s what happens to me!
