So you want a sparkling clean farmhouse kitchen sink? It sounds simple to keep your kitchen sink clean, but it’s usually one of the dirtiest and germiest places with how often we use it.
The absolute BEST method for cleaning your farmhouse kitchen sink is to use baking soda! That’s right, you can use baking soda to gently scrub your kitchen sink clean. It truly does make it sparkling while getting rid of grease, removing stubborn stains and deodorizing the drain as well.
This method is great for deep cleaning your farmhouse kitchen sink. The best part is no harsh products are needed.

how to deep clean your farmhouse kitchen sink
Step one – Cover your sink baking soda. The best way is to make a baking soda and water paste, using one part water and two parts baking soda. Apply the paste all over the farmhouse kitchen sink. For a little deeper clean, I like to making a homemade soft scrub with lemon essential oil and thieves household cleaner. Here is my homemade soft scrub recipe that has worked wonders on keeping my sink white!
Step two – After you let the baking soda paste sit on the sink for 5-10 minutes, get out your scrub brush. Start scrubbing the sink from the top down to the drain, and then focus a little more on any stubborn areas and around the drain. If needed, I will get out my cleaning toothbrush to get the inside of the drain clean. As for my favorite scrub brush, you can buy it here.

Step three – Thoroughly rinse your sink from top to bottom. As baking soda can be a little finicky to get off, you may need to do this more than once. Or simply wash the sink with dish soap to get all the baking soda white residue off the sink. If you are looking for a gentler, more natural dish soap that still works great, this is the one I have liked the best.
Step four – If you are looking to disinfect your sink as well, you’ll want to do this step as well. Cover you sink with reusable towels or paper towels soaked in vinegar, because it’s a natural disinfectant. Leave for 15 minutes to disinfect your sink. Vinegar can also help remove hard water stains on your faucet.
Step five – Don’t forget to wash your faucet and sink handles too! You can use vinegar and then dish soap and a sponge to wash faucet and handles. Rinse them well after you’re done cleaning.
Then step back to appreciate how amazing your farmhouse kitchen sink looks!

what else can i use to disinfect my sink besides vinegar?
If you aren’t a huge vinegar fan, I would highly suggest trying out my homemade lemon infused vinegar cleaning spray first. This recipe requires a little bit of time, but it’s so worth it to get a much more mild vinegar for cleaning your home naturally. Other options could be to use rubbing alcohol or hydrogen peroxide, but make sure to check to see if they are safe to use on your kitchen sink and/or faucet materials first.
