dry scalp hair mask in glass bowl

homemade hair mask for dry scalp

If you struggle with dry scalp, then you are going to want to make this homemade hair mask. It's made with simple, natural ingredients and so easy to make at home.

Equipment

  • 1 glass bowl
  • glass jar

Ingredients

Instructions

  • Add 2 tablespoons of just barely melted coconut oil to a glass bowl. In order to soften your coconut oil, place in a glass bowl and microwave for 5-10 second increments, making sure to check on it each time.
  • Add 4 tablespoons of jojoba oil to the glass bowl. Mix well to combine.
  • Add in 30 drops of essential oils (see above for essential oil blend inspiration & notes for my recipe) to the coconut oil and jojoba oil mixture. Stir to combine.
  • For best results, put the hair mask in the fridge for 1-2 hours before using. Putting the hair mask in the fridge will allow it to thicken for easier application.

Notes

Selecting the essential oils is the fun part of this recipe.  Make sure to pick the ones that are best for your needs and see what works for you. My personal recipe uses 10 drops Ylang Ylang, 10 drops Cedarwood and 10 drops Lavender essential oils.
This DIY hair mask makes enough for multiple uses, so I recommend storing it in an 4oz glass mason jar  with a tight fitting lid.
